Kasha Marie

It takes confidence and motivation to get in front of the camera, and Kasha Marie exudes both of those qualities and much more. Represented by Bella Life Models, Kasha Marie is energetic and is driven to achieve all her goals not only as a model, but as a person as well. You’ll come away impressed by this down-to-earth model after reading this interview.

When did you get interested in modeling?

Kasha Marie: I first became interested in modeling when I was about ten-years old. Growing up with all sisters and one brother had a huge impact on me, because I was always surrounded by mostly females. Having an older sister to look up to influenced my decision to “hurry up and grow up.” On TV, in magazines, or even just in public I obsessed over clothing. Looking and feeling pretty; and new style ideas. Family members, and even random strangers would tell me “you need to model; you’re beautiful.” However, at that age I wasn’t fully interested in doing whatever it took to make it. I really became interested in modeling once I gave birth to my daughter! I realized how quickly life changes and before time kept passing by, I decided to finally fulfill my dream of modeling, especially to prove to my daughter that no matter what obstacles life may throw you, it’s always important to believe in yourself, and do anything in your power to reach those goals!

What was going through your mind before you did your first photo shoot?

Kasha Marie: Once I became a professionally signed model, I was so nervous yet so excited for my first photo shoot! My mind was all over the place, I was over-thinking, practicing, and reassuring myself that I was ready for it! What pushed me to show up was the fact that I finally was given the opportunity to start fresh and build an amazing portfolio, so positive thinking helped me go through with my first shoot!

How do you prepare for a photo shoot?

Kasha Marie: To prepare for a photo shoot, I like to stay very organized! I usually talk to the hair and makeup artist HMUA, and photographer, as well as anyone else involved to make sure that I have full details on what to expect. I write a list of things I need to bring, and most times I bang out a huge workout the day before to make sure I feel just as great!

You’re represented by Bella Life Model Agency. What’s it like being represented by them?

Kasha Marie: Being represented by Bella Life Models is probably the most rewarding accomplishment in my modeling career thus far. I have been signed with two other agencies who loved to take my money. Bella Life Models has opened so many doors for me. Christine has a huge heart and she strives each day to make sure she gives us models endless opportunities to excel. I have met so many amazing people in under a year, and I’m blessed for that! Within all of these connections I have already learned so many valuable lessons, and I am proud that I have begun the process of building a professional portfolio!

In your opinion: what does it take to be a successful model?

Kasha Marie: To be a successful model, first you need to make sure this is something you truly want. A lot of people think that modeling is easy, because a photo can look so simple, yet many don’t even know the half of it! I have been to endless amounts of shoots where models complain, complain, and complain. Plain and simple: If you want it, there are no excuses! A successful model is someone who radiates determination! Shoots can sometimes be completely unorganized, and it takes a strong-minded model to deal with whatever bumps are thrown in the way, and still come out with amazing work. A successful model is versatile, and can portray whatever the project is looking to announce. It is important that the model is prepared, and willing to take risks and step a few feet outside of their comfort zone. All of these traits build a strong model, and a successful model will portray growth, because growth is most important!

Who has been the biggest influence in your life?

Kasha Marie: I have had a lot of positive influences in my life, as well as negative influences which have built positive mindsets for me! My older sister Nicole and my family in general–have all been such a huge support system for me, as well as a select few friends who have always encouraged me! Nicole has influenced me to stick to my goals and dreams until they are accomplished; she is best at accomplishing hers! My daughter, Avynn, has now been my biggest pusher. Seeing her smiling everyday–makes me want to keep the smile on her face, and make her proud. I will never give up, because of her. She deserves a better life than I was given, and each day reminds me how crazy this world is, and how sad our economy is. Having a daughter at such a young age–makes me strive even harder to become successful, so that one day, she too can do whatever she dreams too.

Besides modeling, what else are you interested in and passionate about?

Kasha Marie: Aside from modeling, I have been most passionate about fashion in general; I am working on a networking project right now, in hopes to increase my exposure. Fashion to me is a way to express yourself, and I feel that today, especially young women have trouble embodying who they really are due to bullying, and self-image struggles. After giving birth, it really hit me: how strong women truly are. I feel that lack of self-confidence is a huge factor in hatred these days–for people towards themselves and towards others. Being passionate in fashion has given me positive attention from younger girls who say that I am an inspiration, and that is exactly what I aspire to do: be inspiring!

Is there anything specific that you would like to accomplish in your modeling career?

Kasha Marie: I hope to accomplish a lot of goals throughout my modeling career. Of course everyone hopes to make it, but I would love to make it while making a difference. I have list upon list of goals in my head; these all help push me daily, especially when I have weak moments where I question if it is all worth it? When I see my daughter’s face light up when I walk through the door, that is reassurance. When I show her my modeling videos and she says, “good job, mommy,” that is my reassurance. I will continue to set higher expectations for myself, because it is such a rush when I push myself to step into something uncomfortable, and step out proud!

Do you set goals? If so, can you describe how you do?

Kasha Marie: The most important advice in setting goals is to compare yourself to only yourself. What things are holding you back that you wish you could change? See something that inspires you? Put your own twist on it! It is most important to set goals in hopes to be exactly who you were born to be. Always strive to improve. Chances are, once you hit those goals, on the way you will find more goals, and the list will grow. Sometimes goals will seem not realistic, and let them feel that way. Just add baby steps in between those goals and you will soon climb!

What can people expect to see from you in the future?

Kasha Marie: In the near future I hope to continue to build my portfolio! 2015 will be a huge comeback for me. It is a chance to prove myself all over again that I can keep checking goals off of my dream list. Until my dreams become a reality, I can’t give up; I am working on many projects currently to increase my exposure, because word of mouth is an amazing concept. I want to reach out to as many individuals as possible to release my message. I hope my message shouts ” we are all beautiful, we are all strong, we are all unique.” I am working on personalizing my career. Too many people outside of the industry and many people inside the industry feel modeling careers strive for attention, and most times negative attention all for the wrong reasons; I aim to prove that in some cases, like mine–I strive to inspire. I want to be more approachable. I want people to know my story, hear my story. I want to be your inspiration. I want to help generations grow. I want to see change! Through whatever dreams someone may have whatever goals they may strive for; I want to be the voice and help people push through their hard times in order to help them reach their ultimate happiness, to become confident. So welcome to #401FIERCE–my networking site, which will combine all of my social media accounts, with constant updates and the ability to connect with me, because “who uses Facebook anyways?” ha-ha. My site will be proof that sometimes the fiercest dream comes from the smallest state. Stay tuned, y’all!
