She unfolds before your eyes, like a curtain that is being drawn up before a show begins. Kimber Cox is one Playboy model that stands out from the rest. Being in front of the camera, Kimber makes it looks easy–and her ability to nail each pose that the camera matches is incredible. It’s easy to appreciate Kimber’s beauty, but as you learn more about her in this interview, you’ll be hard-pressed to find another model like Kimber Cox.
How did you get your start in modeling?
Kimber Cox: I started my modeling by going to a Playboy casting call here in Dallas. I have always wanted to be a part of Playboy so I jumped on the opportunity. I did a few modeling gigs back when I lived in Los Angeles, but I was not serious about then as I am now.
Is there anything specifically that you do to prepare for a photo shoot?
Kimber Cox: Before any shoot, I do make sure to prep about a week before the shoot. I try to drink as much water as possible, so that I feel refreshed. I am not a huge workout person, but I definitely hit the gym a few weeks before.
What do you like the most about modeling, and what do you dislike the most about modeling?
Kimber Cox: I think what I like most about modeling is the excitement of waiting for the pictures to come out! Every photographer is different so it’s real fun to see each outcome. Another thing I like about modeling is each theme–you get to be different people or dress certain ways that you usually wouldn’t dress. It’s fun to step out of your comfort zone. I don’t really have any dislikes about modeling. Sometimes you have really long days and towards the end, it takes everything to stay “model” ready.
Have you come across any form of competitiveness in the modeling industry?
Kimber Cox: I think there is competitiveness in everything. I think everyone wants to shine! However, I have met some of my best friends doing modeling. All the models I’ve worked with have always been super friendly.
In your opinion: what is the biggest misconception about modeling?
Kimber Cox: I think the biggest misconception of modeling is that it’s easy! It’s not easy; I think it looks that way in pictures, because that is the way it’s supposed to look. Graceful and easy. Usually the poses aren’t as comfortable as they seem to potray (trust me!). I’m always very sore after a photo shoot.
Is there any companies/publications that you want to work with, but haven’t yet?
Kimber Cox: One of my biggest goals was to model for Playboy, so that was really cool for me and a big achievement. I would love to do work for Maxim; the photos are always so hot! I really want to do a photo shoot at the beach!
Besides modeling, what else are you interested in and passionate about?
Kimber Cox: I love, love, love animals! My perfect day would be to relax with a glass of wine and my fur babies! I have four dogs; I plan to someday do something to help more animals find good homes.
Do you set goals for yourself? If so, can you share some that you’re trying to accomplish?
Kimber Cox: I am always setting goals for myself. Whether it’s for work, cooking, or modeling. When it comes to modeling, I think my biggest goal would be to become a Playmate.
What is your definition of beautiful?
Kimber Cox: My definition of beautiful is having a kind heart on the inside–that reflects on the outside. I think when someone feels good about themselves, it shows. You have to be confident and remember that any “flaws” you think you have–are just things that make you different from anyone else!
What can people expect to see from you the rest of 2014 and in 2015?
Kimber Cox: Big things! ha-ha; honestly, I don’t know. I hope a lot more pictorials! Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to show people more about me!
