Larissa Bartolo

It’s very rare to come across a woman such as Larissa Bartolo. International model, entrepreneur, business woman, beauty therapist, and dancer. Larissa is all of the mentioned and beyond. She radiates positivity, and doesn’t let anything get in her way of accomplishing her goals. Larissa has been featured on/in Playboy TV, FHM Australia, Maxim Australia, and Zoo Weekly Australia. In the coming months, you’re going to hear and see a lot more of Larissa. Until then—enjoy learning more about Larissa, and what she has her sights set on.

Justin Marroquin: When did you first get interested in modeling?

Larissa Bartolo: Modeling has been of interest to me since a very young age. My first few years of modeling professionally became a place to express my feelings and emotions, and I found it to be very therapeutic.

Justin Marroquin: Did you have any goals that you wanted to accomplish once you decided to model?

Larissa Bartolo: As a model, you are constantly setting new goals of where you want to be; and every time you succeed in fulfilling them—you will have another lined up around the corner! That’s what allows you to have drive and determination too! So it’s a good thing. I’m currently working overseas in the UK/Europe. To me, and in my career at the moment, that’s a massive step and goal fulfilled. However, ask me in six months and I’ll have a whole new set of goals too!

Justin Marroquin: What was your first photo shoot experience like?

Larissa Bartolo: After numerous shoots with the studios set up in malls, I decided to take things upon myself and I contacted a well-known photographer to shoot; He was professional, and allowed my family to come and watch. He set up my theme shoot in the studio—I arrived and my hair and make up artist made me feel like a star! I was guided with poses, and made to feel comfortable with the people on set. All in all, it was a great experience and helped to create the large amount of love and passion I now have for the industry.

Justin Marroquin: In your opinion, what’s your definition of beauty?

Larissa Bartolo: Sounds cliché, but beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. I believe that beauty is something that radiates when you accept yourself for who you are. The modeling industry especially creates this persona of the “perfect woman” but I think girls need to realize that without the amazing make up artists and hair stylists, clothing piled on, lighting techniques, and fantastic airbrushed skills—we are all the same! I personally have a lot of image issues. However, I’ve learned to love myself for what I am, and this really shows. Start looking after yourself and doing good in the world, and your inner beauty will shine all the way through!

Justin Marroquin: You’re an avid reader. What are some of your favorite books to read?

Larissa Bartolo: At the moment after many recommendations, I have begun to read Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man. However, usually I am not too fond of novels—I prefer to read factual books, documentary type, or even autobiography. It’s a big world out there and you can never learn enough!

Justin Marroquin: You have an incredible passion and zest for life. Where does that come from, and how do you stay that way?

Larissa Bartolo: It’s a harsh world! If you sit back from your life for a second and really look at it from an outside perspective—the things that once bothered you will seem small, and you will be able to appreciate what you have, what you have achieved, and who you are! That’s an amazing thing to realize about your life. I believe in myself and the likes of others. And this allows me to continue a positive life. Being positive and having faith in myself is the reason I have achieved the goals that I have set for myself. Life is too short to worry!

Justin Marroquin: What inspires you?

Larissa Bartolo: People, nature, the world. There are many influential characters in the world, but I would rather sit back and look at the man in the park who has years of wisdom lying on his face, and could tell a million stories that could change you. The people who have seen real struggle yet always have a smile on their face. The way nature finds a way of coming through—even if a tragedy hits and nature is wiped, somehow one flower will blossom and make you realize it’s all going to be OK!

Justin Marroquin: Is there anything specific that you would like to accomplish this year?

Larissa Bartolo: This year I have some very exciting things happening, and I cannot say too much yet. However, I will say this is not only going to be the most exciting thing to happen to me, but it will also be a change in the industry! Stay tuned because you will be seeing a lot more of me in the upcoming months!

Justin Marroquin: How do you handle criticism and negativity that is directed towards you?

Larissa Bartolo: We are always going to have negativity and criticism thrown at us in life (no matter what industry we’re in). You just need to learn to sift through the bullshit (excuse my language) and if something is constructive, then don’t get offended—take it in and see what could be changed. If something is thrown at you out of jealously, learn to ignore it and don’t allow these things to bottle inside; This is life.

Justin Marroquin: You’ve done a lot in your life already. What would be your advice to anyone that is trying to accomplish a goal that they’ve set?

Larissa Bartolo: Just do it. Don’t wait around, don’t sit there dreaming, get up and make a move! Because if you believe—you can achieve anything. I am always open to speak to anyone that has questions about the industry also!
